How the Internet Became My Best Teacher
Escape the algorithm and rediscover the joy of exploring the internet on your own terms.

The Modern Dilemna
These days, most of our time online is spent inside a feed.
TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels… all designed to keep us swiping for just one more “quick” hit of entertainment.
It’s fast, addictive, and effortless. But it’s also shrinking how we use the internet.
We forget the web isn’t just a place to scroll. It’s one of the most powerful learning tools ever created. A massive, open library of knowledge, creativity, and opportunity that’s easy to miss when you’re stuck in algorithm loops.
Teaching Myself to Code with Free Resources
A few years ago, I started using that side of the internet to teach myself how to code.
No bootcamp. No degree. Just curiosity, free resources, and hours spent at the library.
Here are a few of the free resources I used in my development journey:
YouTube: One of the best free resources for learning any skill
freeCodeCamp: Full coding curriculum, hands-on challenges, and certifications
The Odin Project: A well-structured, project-based curriculum for web dev
Coursera: Many top universities offer free-to-audit coding and computer-science courses on Coursera.
What started as late-night tutorials and scrappy projects slowly turned into real skills and eventually, real products. I learned how to create both web and mobile apps are deploy them to production with hundreds of users.
This is how I escaped the algorithm.
And how you can too. By turning the internet from a feed into a classroom.
Turning Curiosity Into Skills and Skills Into Income
The internet is a gold mine of free learning resources but most people never dig deep enough to find them.
They get stuck in the feed, distracted by endless content instead of using the web as a tool to build, learn, and grow.
The goal of this newsletter is to change that.
I created Saturday Sites to shine a light on the useful and empowering corners of the internet — tools, sites, and resources that can help you level up your skills and maybe even turn those skills into an extra stream of income, like I did.
Whether you're just getting started or looking for your next spark of curiosity, I hope this helps you escape the algorithm and start building something of your own.
